Celebrating the People Who Quietly Hold Our Community Together

On Saturday 28th February 2026 at Croydon Smile Hub, we paused to say thank you — to the people who quietly show up for others every single day.
The Broad Green Community Heroes event honoured residents, volunteers and local supporters who make our borough safer, stronger and more hopeful through simple, consistent acts of care.
Behind every round of applause were stories of neighbours helping neighbours, guiding young people, welcoming new families and giving their time without seeking recognition.
This is the real strength of our community.
Croydon doesn’t need saving — it needs activating. And the heroes are already here.
The future of Croydon will be built by people who care enough to act.
